BILLY

Billy’s Story

Billy lived the first 2 years of his life on a 50 pound chain down the street from our house.

I happened to be walking our dogs one afternoon, and decided to venture down a street I hadn’t been down before. I was knew to the area. There was Billy, barking and barking and barking, out of shear boredom, as he was aggressively pulling at the end of a giant chain attached to a tree.

It took me a week to finally catch an owner that was home, and when I finally did, I asked him if I could walk his dog.

He said no, he was far too strong, and “no one could walk that dog.” After talking to him about a million other things for 45 minutes, I asked again. Still a no. Finally after about an hour, after telling me “no” to walking his dog 3 times, I not only got him to agree to let me walk him, but he also agreed to surrender him to me!!!

Billy was one of the toughest dogs I had worked with in my dog training career up until that point. He was WILDLY reactive, and rightfully so, he lived on a chain his entire life and was ready to be a dog!!

I changed the way I trained dogs. It was no longer, “my way because I pay the bills”, it changed to “how can I help you trust me?”

Over the next year, I worked relentlessly to train WITH Billy, so he could do cool things out in public. His transformation was incredible. About a year into his training Sarah joined the team, and she has cleaned up his obedience, taught him multiple new commands, and has taken him from a “pretty cool dog” to a “stellar, dialed in DREAM of a dog”!!! Sarah has taught Billy tricks and commands that I didn’t even know a dog could learn??!!! He is the best dog we have :)

Billy will do best as an only dog. He lives with other dogs, and trains with them, but his play style is rough, and dominating. Which doesn’t pair well with most dogs.

He is looking for an experienced owner that wants to continue working his obedience and teaching him cool things to do… so he can go on all the adventures!!!
